Vangelo: impegno e… proposta – di P. Ennio Staid O.P.

vangeloVi sono mille e più modi di vivere il Vangelo. C’è chi lo ha vissuto accoccolato su di una colonna, chi immerso nel dolore, chi nella gioia più limpida. I modi sono tanti, perché infinita è la ricchezza del Vangelo, ed è presunzione da parte di chi ha fatto una scelta, considerare solo la sua la più giusta. Nel campo di Dio ogni scelta fatta con autenticità è splendida, a noi non è chiesto di giudicare, ma di contemplare con stupore le meraviglie di Dio. L’importante è che ogni scelta sia capace di trasformare (portare dalla morte alla vita) coloro che la vivono. Forse inconsciamente molti che non conoscono Cristo, vivono esperienze evangeliche e passano dalla morte alla vita, con più impegno e coerenza di tanti che si dichiarano cristiani. Ricordo con tristezza un dialogo tra due giovani; Il primo chiama l’amico dicendogli: “Vieni, c’è padre Ennio che celebra la Messa”, e l’altro gli risponde: “io ho già ricevuto la Cresima”. Per quel giovane la Cresima era il sacramento che lo esonerava dalla partecipazione all’Eucarestia. In Italia in questi ultimi anni oltre duecentomila persone hanno scelto di farsi sbattezzare, un matrimonio su quattro fallisce, il sacramento della riconciliazione è quasi totalmente dimenticato, quello dell’Ordine sacro diventa sempre più raro e non mi sembra venga richiesta da molti l’unzione degli infermi.

 Non tutti i cristiani vivono secondo il Vangelo; è come se a tutti Dio donasse un assegno di un milione di euro ma pochissimi lo andassero a riscuotere. Per riscuotere quell’assegno è necessario che il piccolo seme della Fede diventi un albero. Solo in quel momento si gustano i suoi frutti. L’assegno ricevuto con il battesimo per i più è servito per fare un buon pranzo con gli amici. Il Vangelo è vita nuova, cambiamento totale, è amore puro ed assoluto, scevro da compromessi. Eppure spesso ci lasciamo ingannare e concediamo il passaporto di evangelico soltanto a coloro che la pensano come noi, che vivono come noi, sdegnando le strade altrui. In questi ultimi tempi si tira fuori l’assegno per mostrarlo come un qualcosa che ci distingue dalle altre religioni. Ci si accapiglia se in una scuola non si fa il presepio e si urla per rigettare a mare uomini donne e bambini che fuggono dalla guerra o dalla fame.

La salvezza portata da Cristo non passa esclusivamente attraverso l’appartenenza ad una determinata razza o a una determinata chiesa. Certo, essa ha la sua inalienabile importanza, essendo la Chiesa per noi il segno visibile della grazia, ma è altrettanto vero che rimane mezzo e strumento per raggiungere Cristo. Ciò non impedisce che la grazia di Dio conduca a salvezza attraverso altri mezzi e altri strumenti. Se siamo alla ricerca di esperienze evangeliche, dobbiamo porci dei seri interrogativi e, il primo fra tutti, se noi stessi siamo “esperienza evangelica”. L’interrogazione diventa drammatica quando ci viene chiesto di dare ragione della nostra speranza. Ciò significa rendere visibile e credibile la nostra Pasqua, ossia il nostro passaggio alla vita nuova. Oppure la nostra non è autentica esperienza cristiana, ma soltanto una copertura per le nostre viltà e paure. Il nome di Gesù Cristo potrebbe essere un comodo rifugio, invece che “segno di contraddizione”, luogo di pace e di tranquillità umana, contro la stessa parola di Cristo.

Il Vangelo invita alla lotta e ammonisce affinché il ritorno glorioso del Signore non ci trovi impreparati, non solo come singoli seguaci, ma come Chiesa. La nostra esperienza evangelica sarebbe vanificata se non fosse aperta alla storia, al nostro oggi, al Dio che continuamente viene. Non saranno le strutture che ci salveranno, ma il confrontarci giorno per giorno con chi spera, lotta, soffre, in modo da attuare anche qui sulla terra una porzione di quel regno che Cristo è venuto ad inaugurare. E’ necessario rendersi conto della incapacità che hanno di salvare le strutture delle nostre parrocchie, diocesi, regole, orari; né basta, se la risurrezione non viene ancora, ripeterci: dobbiamo aumentare riti e sacrifici, ma è più coraggioso e più evangelico ricominciare, mettersi ancor meglio in ascolto, cuore ed intelligenza, e finalmente accettare quella croce che ci viene continuamente proposta da un prossimo che lotta e che muore. Anche la nostra comunità si interroga sulla sua esperienza e riconosce che il cammino da fare è ancora lungo. Essa sa che Cristo è là dove vi è un prigioniero, un ammalato, un affamato, un emarginato, uno sfiduciato. Sa che il suo cammino è segnato da momenti di tensione, di scoraggiamento, di ripensamento, ma con altrettanta certezza sa che, se la speranza si fa sottile, non ha altra ragione di esistere, né altra possibilità di vita.
