Caccamo. Il cantante Povia e l’attore Paulicelli raccontano Madre Teresa di Calcutta. In chiesa Madre anche l’unica nipote della Santa dei poveri

Il concerto di Povia, il musical di Michele Paulicelli, le conferenze di Saverio Gaeta (Famiglia Cristiana) e Giorgio Bernardelli (Mondo e Missione), la testimonianza diretta dell’unica nipote di Madre Teresa di Calcutta sono alcune delle iniziative poste in essere da Don Giuseppe Calderone per far conoscere la straordinaria vita della suora che dedicò l’intera sua esistenza alla cura dei poveri: Madre Teresa, canonizzata da Papa Francesco il 4 settembre 2016.

Promosso dal parroco della chiesa San Giorgio Martire di Caccamo, “Un mese con Madre Teresa” è un folto programma di eventi, che si svolgeranno nell’arco di quattro settimane, dal 22 ottobre al 21 novembre; una carrellata di manifestazioni che, dalla musica all’arte, dal cinema ai momenti di riflessione e di preghiera, utilizzano i più svariati linguaggi per essere accessibili e per raggiungere tutti.

«L’obiettivo – spiega don Giuseppe Calderone – è quello di far conoscere la vita di Madre Teresa di Calcutta per indicarla come esempio da seguire. Ogni volta che la Chiesa riconosce la santità di una persona, la indica al mondo perché possa ispirarsi al suo vissuto. – Aggiunge il sacerdote, – con la santità di Madre Teresa la Chiesa ci sta dicendo “questa è una strada sicura da percorrere per raggiungere la salvezza. Ma se non la conosciamo questa strada, come facciamo a percorrerla?».

Ad inaugurare “Un Mese con Madre Teresa”, nel pomeriggio del 22 ottobre, sarà Saverio Gaeta, giornalista e scrittore, capo redattore di Famiglia Cristiana e conduttore di Radio Vaticana e Radio Maria, con la conferenza “Madre Teresa, il segreto della santità”. Mentre un altro momento di riflessione è previsto il 9 novembre quando il giornalista Giorgio Bernardelli di Mondo e Missione ed il vicario episcopale Monsignor Raffaele Mangano interverranno nella conferenza “Madre Teresa, i poveri e noi”, moderata dalla giornalista Alessandra Turrisi.

Il 23 ottobre sarà dedicato all’arte in tutte le sue forme decorative. La chiesa Madre ospiterà l’estemporanea di pittura “I colori della Misericordia in Madre Teresa” i cui lavori saranno messi esposti al pubblico dal 1° al 21 novembre, affiancati dalla mostra “Madre Teresa, la Santa della Carità”, curata dal Pontificio Istituto Missioni Estere di Milano.

Dopo quattro giorni di stage intensivo, il primo novembre sarà la volta della musica e del teatro. Michele Paulicelli, (scrittore, compositore, attore e regista teatrale, autore del celebre musical “Forza venite gente”) metterà in scena il musical “La Matita di Dio. Madre Teresa”, con attori professionisti ed attori stagisti.

Quindi domenica 6 novembre l’attesa testimonianza resa dall’unica nipote di Madre Teresa. Agi Bojaxhiu Guttadauro, interverrà con “Vi racconto mia zia Madre Teresa”. La successiva testimonianza è prevista per il 12 novembre e tratterà “Il Carisma di Madre Teresa nella Chiesa”.

Ed ancora: la proiezione del documentario “La madre dei poveri” (13 novembre) di Pina Cataldo e Michele Sciancalepore con l’intervento del Diacono Saro Calò dell’Ufficio Missionario Diocesano; la catechesi di riflessione “L’avete fatto a me” (15 novembre) con Don Calogero Cerami e Monsignor Giovanni Muratore e l’incontro formativo “Perché è santa” (16 novembre) curato dal Presidente del Tribunale Ecclesiastico Siculo Monsignor Vincenzo Murgano, precederanno il gran finale con la partecipazione del cantante Povia, vincitore del Festival di Sanremo 2006, che si esibirà in un concerto il cui ricavato andrà devoluto in beneficenza alle suore di Madre Teresa di Palermo.

Presiederanno l’eucaristia Fra Enzo Marchese, Vicario per la vita consacrata e Monsignor Giuseppe Oliveri, il nuovo Vicario Generale dell’Arcidiocesi di Palermo. L’animazione musicale è affidata alla corale Jubileaum di Caccamo diretta dal maestro Domenico Guzzardo e dai cori della Cattedrale di Palermo e Sancte Joseph di Bagheria diretti dal maestro Mauro Visconti.

Chi è Madre Teresa

Missionaria di nazionalità albanese, Premio Nobel per la Pace 1979, Santa cattolica dal 2016, Gonxha (Agnese) Bojaxhiu, la futura Madre Teresa, è nata il 26 agosto 1910 a Skopje (ex Jugoslavia). È morta a Calcutta in India il 5 settembre 1997.

Cresciuta in una famiglia cattolica, nel 1928 Gonxha, attratta dalla vita religiosa, si trasferisce a Dublino dalle suore di Nostra Signora di Loreto, la cui Regola si ispira agli “Esercizi spirituali” di Sant’Ignazio di Loyola. Qui matura il desiderio di aiutare tutti gli uomini e di dedicarsi alla Missione.

Inviata in India a Darjeeling, città situata ai piedi dell’Himalaia, il 24 maggio 1929 inizia il suo noviziato; contemporaneamente insegna alle bambine povere e studia per conseguire il diploma di insegnante.

Il 25 maggio 1931, pronuncia i voti religiosi e assume da quel momento il nome di Suor Teresa, in onore di Santa Teresa di Lisieux. Per terminare gli studi, viene mandata, nel 1935, presso l’Istituto di Calcutta, capitale sovrappopolata ed insalubre del Bengala.

È a Calcutta che la sua vita è sconvolta dall’estrema povertà della gente che vive in quella metropoli. Di fatto viene a contatto con una popolazione nasce, vive e muore sui marciapiedi; il loro tetto, se va bene, è il sedile di una panchina, l’angolo di un portone. Tantissimi i bambini che muoiono appena nati ed i cadaveri venivano gettati nella spazzatura.

Il 10 settembre 1946, mentre sta pregando, Suor Teresa percepisce l’invito di Dio a lasciare il convento di Loreto per consacrarsi al servizio dei poveri e vivere in mezzo a loro. L’anno successivo la Santa Sede la autorizza a vivere fuori della clausura. Il 16 agosto 1947, a trentasette anni, Suor Teresa indossa per la prima volta un “sari” (veste tradizionale delle donne indiane) bianco di cotone, ornato di un bordino azzurro, i colori della Vergine Maria. Sulla spalla, un piccolo crocifisso nero.

Dal 1949 numerose giovani chiedono di condividere la vita di Madre Teresa. E nel 1950, Papa Pio XII autorizza la nascita della “Congregazione delle Missionarie della Carità”.

Nel 1952 suor Teresa chiede ed ottiene dall’amministrazione comunale un locale per accogliervi i moribondi abbandonati. Due anni dopo crea il “Centro di speranza e di vita” per accogliervi i bambini abbandonati. Molti di quei bambini muoiono per gli stenti subiti; quelli che Madre Teresa riesce a salvare vengono adottati da famiglie di tutti i paesi.

Negli anni 60, l’opera di Madre Teresa si estende a quasi tutte le diocesi dell’India. Nel 1965, delle Religiose se ne vanno nel Venezuela. Nel marzo del 1968, Paolo VI chiede a Madre Teresa di aprire una casa a Roma. Intanto le Suore operano nel Bangladesh, paese devastato dalla guerra civile. Numerose donne sono state stuprate da soldati e si consiglia a chi è in gravidanza di abortire. Madre Teresa si batte con tutte le sue forze per impedire l’aborto, accogliendo ed adottando nella sua Missione i bambini. Ciò per evitare “che a quelle donne, che avevano soltanto subito la violenza, si facesse poi commettere una trasgressione che sarebbe rimasta impressa in esse per tutta la vita”.

Nel 1979 le viene assegnato il Premio Nobel per la Pace. Tra le motivazioni vi è il suo impegno per i più poveri, il rispetto per la dignità di ogni singola persona. Madre Teresa nell’occasione rifiuta il convenzionale banchetto cerimoniale per i vincitori e chiede che i 6.000 dollari del premio vengano destinati ai bisognosi di Calcutta, che con grazie a questa somma possono ottenere aiuti per un anno intero.

Negli anni ’80, l’Ordine fonda, in media, quindici nuove case all’anno. A partire dal 1986, si insedia nei paesi comunisti, fino allora vietati ai missionari: l’Etiopia, lo Yemen Meridionale, l’Urss, l’Albania e la Cina.

Nel marzo del 1967, l’opera di Madre Teresa si è arricchita di un ramo maschile: la “Congregazione dei Frati Missionari”. E nel 1969 nasce la Fraternità dei collaboratori laici delle Missionarie della Carità.

Tante volte Madre Teresa, ai giovani che manifestavano il desiderio di andarla ad aiutare in India, rispondeva: «In Francia, come a New York e dovunque, quanti esseri hanno fame di esser amati: è una povertà terribile, questa, senza paragone con la povertà degli Africani e degli Indiani… Non è tanto quanto si dà, ma è l’amore che mettiamo nel dare che conta… Pregate perché ciò cominci nella vostra propria famiglia. I bambini non hanno spesso nessuno che li accolga, quando tornano da scuola. Quando si ritrovano con i genitori, è per sedersi davanti alla televisione, e non scambiano parola. È una povertà molto profonda… Dovete lavorare per guadagnare la vita della vostra famiglia, ma abbiate anche il coraggio di dividere con qualcuno che non ha ? forse semplicemente un sorriso, un bicchier d’acqua -, di proporgli di sedersi per parlare qualche istante; scrivete magari soltanto una lettera ad un malato degente in ospedale…».

Il 5 settembre 1997 Madre Teresa si è spenta a Calcutta, suscitando commozione in tutto il mondo.

Il 20 dicembre 2002 papa Giovanni Paolo II iniziato il processo di beatificazione più rapido nella storia delle “cause” dei santi.

Il 19 ottobre 2003, papa Giovanni Paolo II ha presieduto la beatificazione di madre Teresa davanti a un’emozionata folla di trecentomila fedeli. La sua canonizzazione avviene il 4 settembre 2016 sotto il pontificato di Papa Francesco.
